The gaming industry in North Macedonia is a rapidly growing sector, with projected growth to USD 28.85 million by 2027. While mobile gaming remains the dominant segment, there is significant potential in PC and console games, esports, gamification, and tabletop games. Despite challenges such as limited institutional support, access to funding, and talent migration, local studios continue to develop globally competitive titles and attract international recognition. The Macedonian gaming ecosystem is built upon several key pillars: – Active game studios and startups such as Flex Games, IAbuzz, Yatzy, and Idea9studio; – Educational institutions and academies like M3DS Academy, offering specialized programs in game design and development; – Supportive organizations such as MAGDA and the Macedonian Esports Association, which foster professional growth and network building; – As well as events, Discord communities, and public initiatives that sustain and connect the local scene. Innovations such as generative artificial intelligence and emerging monetization models are opening new opportunities for Macedonian companies and creators.
